Damn Damn Damn

The reception hall at the church was canceled - it was damaged during a flood this last winter and the insurance company is screwing them over - repairs won't be done until well after the wedding. So, reception has been moved to parents house (thank God it's a beautiful house and big enough to handle the entire combined family - air conditioning is a plus).

She also said that my dad is having kitten about the wedding site. We're doing it outside, in the church garden. There is a lovely little labyrinth set into the lawn, with pavers. The lawn is currently brown. Pop is swearing that it'll never be green in 20 days. I've been so psyched about having the wedding on the labyrinth. Mom went out to get fabric to hang from the trees - 50 yards of it. We were going to cover the pavers in rose petals so it stood out more. Pop wants to have the wedding *in the church because he thinks it'll be cooler. Yeah, and lightning will bloody well strike him if he walks into a church, Godless heathen that he is. Pop is adamant about not having wedding on brown grass.

The church is a sweatbox. With an ancient electrical system. And no fans. Plus, Dane and I aren't doing the pre-marital classes because 1) we don't live in the state and 2) because we're not getting married in the actual church - if we were, we'd have to do the classes. Yeah, and I'm still recovering from Catholic scarring. A lot of scarring. I haven't set foot in a church in 4 years (and have no intention of doing so now). The labyrinth is so lovely, though.

Options are:
ceremony on brown labyrinth, reception at mom's
ceremony in pretty church, reception at mom's
ceremony at mom's on deck in front of gorgeous view of town, hills, water, reception at mom's
ceremony at mom's inside in A/C, reception at mom's

*sighs* 20 days till wedding
