So last night I read a novel from a well-liked author that I've been reading for years - and I got MAD. She wrote in three horrific info-dumps and, as a reader, I was so offended that it ruined so much of the book for me. They could have been handled so much more smoothly than she did - and I know she's more skilled than THAT. She also had characters speaking in "they way you've set that person up, that person doesn't speak that way" speech. It severely pissed me off. I thought that so much of it was heavy handed and lacking in the skill and humor that I know she has. I'm very disappointed. I follow her on FB and have been restraining myself to NOT send her a verbal smack upside the head.
The book was Sleeping with the Entity from Cat Devon, who is actually Cathie Lintz. I really hope the next book is better, since i had the brilliant idea to buy both the first and second in the series.
