Me, blog? Well, I guess I can do that. I suppose that I’ve been having adventures, though I’m so tired that I can’t quite tell.

We went to NY last week, ostensibly to go to my baby brother’s wedding, but of course, stopped off to visit my beloved [livejournal.com profile] caughtnthequiet  and her lovely Jen in Buffalo, NY.

Really. I have missed my bed so very much. I am SO glad that I could curl up in it last night. Yayayaya home!

Hotels, while delightful, are so tiresome after a week.

I woke up at 4:30 EST and can't fall back to sleep. I want to be asleep in my own bed. Hotels grow tiresome.

So there is nothing to recomend the comfort inn in hamburg, ny. The security lock is broken, there is no elevator, there are only sheers on window and a set of floodlights in the parking lot. My husband is a furnace and difficult to sleep so very close to.

Once I covered said window and added earplugs to my head, I slept decently.

Arose to have delish late lunch at Koz's then headed to Niagara Falls. So beautiful. It really is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. I can't post pics from my blackberry but will try with lappie tomorrow.

Dinner and chattiness at applebees followed.

Bed now. Hasta manana!

Should you be interested, wedding pictures may be found here. There's a menu on the side, above the thumbnails with more sections than just the ceremony.

No, I'm really not pregnant, lol.

I am SO tired of hearing people sing that to me. Alas, I am married and back home – finally.

Damn Damn Damn

The reception hall at the church was canceled - it was damaged during a flood this last winter and the insurance company is screwing them over - repairs won't be done until well after the wedding. So, reception has been moved to parents house (thank God it's a beautiful house and big enough to handle the entire combined family - air conditioning is a plus).

She also said that my dad is having kitten about the wedding site. We're doing it outside, in the church garden. There is a lovely little labyrinth set into the lawn, with pavers. The lawn is currently brown. Pop is swearing that it'll never be green in 20 days. I've been so psyched about having the wedding on the labyrinth. Mom went out to get fabric to hang from the trees - 50 yards of it. We were going to cover the pavers in rose petals so it stood out more. Pop wants to have the wedding *in the church because he thinks it'll be cooler. Yeah, and lightning will bloody well strike him if he walks into a church, Godless heathen that he is. Pop is adamant about not having wedding on brown grass.

The church is a sweatbox. With an ancient electrical system. And no fans. Plus, Dane and I aren't doing the pre-marital classes because 1) we don't live in the state and 2) because we're not getting married in the actual church - if we were, we'd have to do the classes. Yeah, and I'm still recovering from Catholic scarring. A lot of scarring. I haven't set foot in a church in 4 years (and have no intention of doing so now). The labyrinth is so lovely, though.

Options are:
ceremony on brown labyrinth, reception at mom's
ceremony in pretty church, reception at mom's
ceremony at mom's on deck in front of gorgeous view of town, hills, water, reception at mom's
ceremony at mom's inside in A/C, reception at mom's

*sighs* 20 days till wedding

Just got back from a wedding dress fitting. The blonde's dress is 3/4 done and wow, will she need a slip, lol. The dressmaker fitted me into a muslin (a mock-up in cheap fabric) of my bodice. I discovered that the sleeves on my dress are *giggles* very long and could be excessive - she'll cut them down later, if they need it. We'll see when they are done up in the georgette. Also discovered that bra I *though I was wearing for the wedding, will NOT be worn, as it's completely the wrong color and style for the dress. Good thing I ordered two more. PLEASE make one of them fit.

She told me about another bride who has bridesmaids wearing nude colored taffeta tank tops and skirts that start 4-5 inches below the navel (we assume that this is going to be a "starter marriage". *blinks*

Dear God... I'm going to be positively matronly in my dress with my "impressive cleavage" down to there. Sheesh.

In other news, Dane has his suit, my wedding ring is out being sized MIL has her dress, mom has her dress, photographer is settled upon (I'll call him fairly soon and discuss what I want -- er... what do I want?)

The bird is coming with us - I'm irritated that I got more cage than I paid for *sighs* I ordered a travel cage that was 7x8x10 to fit under the airline seat. I got one 13 inches high! That won't bloody well fit under the seat. The company has yet to call me back. Am annoyed. Am contemplating siccing Lucius Malfoy on them.

Sent chapter 42 (after much dawdelling on just finishing the damned thing) off to Accio and Tao for beta. Go me! Threads are slowly coming together. I love it when I can stop spinning them and start weaving the story, lol.

Also, I got my engagement ring!!! yayayayayaya. It's SO beautiful. The picture I showed a few weeks ago just doesn't do it justice. It's amazing and I love it. Not as much as I adore Dane for getting it for me, but I do love it. It's never coming off my finger, lmao. They will have to pry this ring off my cold, dead hand. Will try to take a picture of it in the next day or so.

ETA: Above-mentioned ghillies now on my feet as they arrived only moments ago. Jury is still out. They are VERY tan *sighs*

I used to be a sane person. Then, I informed my best beloved that we were getting married. Then, I repeated myself. Now, apparently, we actually are doing this thing, date and all, and now I am a crazy person. Invitations, no colors on the invitations, so we can print them easily - and oh damn, can I do that on cardstock, flowers – did you know Costco does bouquets and bulk roses, dresses, rings, marriage licenses (do I have to take a written test for this like a driver's license test - sheesh) favors, garden vs. church vs. deck, and where’s the reception, get Costco to do the cake, damn it, and where the hell did all of these people come from, and mothers... LOTS of mothers.

My mother is now a crazy person, too. She went to Michaels to "get ideas". Now she has ideas. This is both good and bad. She has a LOT of ideas (formal portraits - wtf?) to stuff for kids to do during the reception (keeping kids busy so they don't wreck havoc - quelle concept) and favors - everything from picture frames to key chains (please tell me why someone would want a keychain with my name and wedding date on it? That's just dumb.) Tell me why the frell I have to invite my cousins. They didn't invite me to their weddings *sticks tongue out in the manner of a four year old*. My mother tells me it's because I am a better person and it's good for the family. I think she means I'm willing to spend money on people I really don't like enough to call on the weekend.

I used to be sane. Once upon a time. Now, I am slowly turning into Bridezilla.

So... I've spent the day looking at wedding rings. Looks like August-ish they'll be put into use.

Calmly not squeeing. See?
