I overheard one of my agents on the phone with a government official, trying to figure out how to have someone served. The poor guy is all of 25, getting married next month and some chick trashed his rental house, costing him thousands of dollars. Turns out that the chick moved out of his house and in to the building right across from my office - and he's just found out. Of course, the catch is that, after a little bit of investigative work, he found out that she's moving today and he'll never catch her again. So, he was finding out if it was possible to have her served today. He was told that he just needs to have someone - anyone, not just a deputy, hand the papers to her and then fill out an affidavit that they did it. The poor guy knew that she'd never open the door to him and his fiancee is terrified of it - so I volunteered.

I had him go get some flowers - because every woman in the world will open the door for another woman holding flowers. He put the papers in a non-business envelope and off I went, wiggling across the street in my new shoes. It just so happened that she was walking to her car, which he recognized and pointed out to us.

I smiled nicely, asked if she lived in the building and if she knew if Traci was in apt 201... turns out she WAS Traci. OMG. Quelle shock. "Well, these are for YOU! Have a great day!" I handed her the flowers and envelope and sprinted (in my fab new shoes) across the busy street, praying not to get hit by a car, twist my ankle or get attacked by a pissed off woman and dashed back in to my office. She drove off and I did the ass-wiggling happy dance with my agents.

I served someone! I love justice for nice people. It makes me happy and my poor kid-agent has never looked so relaxed or giddily happy. I feel great!
