My inability to update my own website is severely pissing me off.

Okay, you tech people, I've updated my java, shockwave, flash, windows, office, turned off my popup blocker, bowed to the Great Bill Gates north and shimmed naked in a circle. Why am I still not getting a required popup on this website when other people are?

ETA: Turns out this is a Cis Meets Efiction issue and will be rectified shortly. Thank you so much for the help, ladies!

Add the site to your safe list.

In Firefox, go to Tools, then Options. In the Contents tab, there's a "Block Popup Windows" check box, and a button that says "Exceptions." Enter the URL of the site.

In Internet Explorer, hit the "Tools" icon in the upper right corner (looks like a gear). Select "Internet Options" and the Security Tab. Click the "Trusted Sites" button and add the URL of the site.

If you've already done this, then you've exceeded my meager browser knowledge and can only recommend a burnt offering. Good luck!

tried those - but thank you SO much for the suggestions! They were on the list of exactly what i'd tell folks to do, too.

Burnt offerings... do i need to use flesh or will plants do?

It depends on the browser. Internet Explorer demands flesh, ideally foie gras, but Firefox and Opera are usually fine with sage.

i've always been an IE gal. i don't really understand Firefox. i suppose that i'll have to learn. Sage is easier to acquire.

You could have conflicts w/other software such as anti/virus, malware, firewall.

Since you did so many updates to a registry clean and do a restart. Clear recent history.

On Firefox, check the AddOns to see if you have NoScript -- if so, use it to "Allow" (or "Temporarily Allow") whatever URL it wants.
